What Should The Knicks Do With Carmelo Anthony?

The million dollar question of the Knicks season, what is going to happen with Carmelo Anthony? The Knicks sit 3 games out of a playoff spot with a record of 20-26 and not much hope going forward, as the experiment has not panned out thus far.

Phil Jackson can add another media blunder to his resume this season, with the leaking of a potential deal sending Anthony to the Cavaliers. Phil has now pitted himself against Anthony the rest of the way. Great, our best player and team president are now butting heads. I guess their “meeting” last week did not do much. Time and time again Phil has left coach Hornacek and Melo out to dry as the team spokesmen with Jackson nowhere to be found, except when he wanted to address his divorce and calling out LeBron’s “posse.”

Now there are a few ways the ‘Bockers can handle the Melo situation.

1. Add veterans and make a push for the playoffs.

If Phil does not want to give in and truly believes the Knicks are a playoff team, he will add a tough wing defender at the deadline to hopefully propel this team to the post-season down the stretch.

2. Stand pat.

He may do absolutely nothing the rest of the way and collect his $12 million for the year.

3. If it gets really ugly, a fire-sale at the deadline.

Now I think it would have to get really ugly for this to happen, and the Knicks go into all out tank mode and focus on building around Porzingis. They would trade away guys like Rose, Melo and Jennings and take whatever haul they could get for the trio.

What I Believe Will Happen:

I think it will be too tough to find a potential place that one, Melo would agree to waive his no-trade clause to go and two, get enough pieces to satisfy Phil to deal the 9-time All-Star. It would definitely take three teams to facilitate a trade. Contenders like Cleveland, Toronto and Boston could be interested.

My bro sent me this deal as a possibility and I want to throw up if this is all we could get for a player of Carmelo’s caliber. Knicks would also receive a 1st round pick this year from Toronto.

With the media circus getting out of control, I really hope this team can put together a few wins and quiet the outside noise and get back in the playoff picture like we were prior to Christmas.

I respect the shit out of Carmelo’s unwavering loyalty to this team, it’s a shame we could not surround him with better talent. It’s also been pleasant to see Melo’s game rise as the distractions around him also increase. He is playing his best basketball of the season, going about his business the right way on and off the floor.

Knicks Get Embarrassed on National TV And Yet Somehow, I’m Not That Upset

Game of Thrones

Did the Knicks even play tonight?

The biggest game (so far) of the Knicks season and the Knicks were a no-show. Just thoroughly out played throughout the whole game by the Cavs. Whatever Lebron and company wanted, they got. The Tape might have never left the locker room during warmups so maybe that’s why they lost.

Here’s the weird part.

I’m not that upset.

First of all, the Cavs are representing the East in the NBA Finals. That’s just a known fact. The Cavs are LIGHTYEARS ahead of the Knicks as a team. Having the best player on Planet Earth will do that to a team. So I am not shocked that they lost. Honestly, I’m not shocked they they lost this badly. The Knicks also just won 4 straight games so they were due for an off night.

If I were to make some excuses for the Tape, our starting PG was out with a sore lower back. His name is Derrick Rose. Ever hear of em? Now does this scare me? YES! Derrick Rose with an injury is never a good sign, but I’m praying it’s nothing serious. Please God. Throw a bone to Rose. Guy can’t stay healthy and we desperately need him.

Besides missing Rose, the Knicks were on the second leg of a back-to-back, where they are now a whopping 0-5 on the season. They actually suck on the 2nd night of a back-to-back. They’re the shitty sequel that should’ve never been made. Caddyshack 2, Blues Brothers 2000, and Hangover Part III are the movies that come to mind.

Any positives? Well, KP continues to be a god at 7’3.

So where do the Knicks go from here? Right now, they’re 12-10. Right in the middle of the pack in the East, which is where I expect the Knicks to finish if all goes according to plan. The Knicks go out West now for a crucial 5-game road trip that includes a trip to Golden State. A lot of winnable games though so they should at least go 3-2.

The priority is to get Derrick Rose healthy because we desperately need him especially because he has been playing so well as of late. When healthy, he can still flash signs of greatness. Key word: healthy. I still think Godzingis should play the 5 and Melo the 4 for the majority of the game, but I don’t see that happening if Noah suits up. I also think this team desperately needs a spot-up 3 point shooter. Granted, Lee has been shooting it well as of late, but they need a guy off the bench to make some jumpers. Umm Ron Baker maybe?

Erase this game from our memory and let’s move on. We’re going out West. CUE THE DAMN MUSIC

Could Theo Epstein Save The Knicks?

Theo Epstein is not human. The fact that Epstein broke The Curse of the Bambino AND The Curse of the Bambino is not even believable. In Boston, when Theo was hired in 2002, the team had not won a World Series since 1918. Two years later, the Red Sox are World Series champions. Somehow, Theo needed more of a challenge. Theo goes to the Cubs in 2011 and installs a “Five Year Plan.” Five years later, and the Cubs are World Series Champions for he first time in 108 years. I think they baseball should put him in the Hall of Fame right now and it’s actually insulting that he’s not in it already. Yes, I know they don’t put in active players, but come on, it’s Theo Epstein.

Theo Epstein should never pay for anything in Boston and Chicago for the rest of his life. Plus, he has vowed to throw a bender for the next month so how can you not get behind him as your leader?

So I’m going to throw out a HUGE hot take here.

Within 10 years, Theo Epstein will run another sports franchise that is not a baseball team.

The Guardian
The Guardian

Yup, you heard it here first. Theo Epstein will leave baseball and run another professional sports franchise. Before you call me an idiot, here me out. Theo almost left the Red Sox twice back in the mid 2000s. I’m not sure if it’s cause he’s bored or he runs himself out of a job, but the fact remains that he knows how to build a team. That’s a cold hard fact.

So I pose this question. Could Theo Epstein save the New York Knicks?

Call me crazy and insane, but I firmly believe Theo Epstein could turn around the Knicks. The jury is not out on Phil Jackson and I’m still on #InPhilWeTrust, but there’s no way the Zen Master will be around in 10 years. That being said, Theo will be 52 and still in his prime. After he’s won 2-3 more titles with the Cubs, I think he’ll need a change. What better place to come to than Madison Square Garden?

No, I am not drunk or high. I’m actually convincing myself that Theo Epstein will come to the Knicks. The development of players such Kris Bryant, Anthony Rizzo and Javy Baez is downright impressive. Why couldn’t he do the same with basketball talent? He totally could. Theo is the smartest executive alive and he will die for his players. He could 100000000% develop basketball players. If you don’t believe that, then I’m sure you didn’t believe the Red Sox could win a World Series or THE CUBS could win a series. If he could break the streak (s), he could bring a title to the Knicks.

Knicks 2026 Offseason – Sign Theo Epstein. Trade for Brad Stevens. Win the title by 2030. Ready…Break.

Knicks Introduce Newcomers With Press Conference Today

Here’s everything you need to know from today’s press conference.

The New York Knicks introduced two new members to the starting lineup known as the “Jackson 5” and a key cog reserve Friday afternoon (July 8) to a crowd of journalists at their practice facility in Greenburgh, New York. The presser also aired to fans in the tri-state area on MSG.

It began with Phil Jackson, general manager Steve Mills, and head coach Steve Hornacek side by side fielding questions from the media. The Zen-Master spoke about always having a fascination for what Joakim Noah brings to a team on and off the floor saying “Joakim Noah has been on my list for a long time.” Noah even spent a few days with Phil up at his ranch in Montana a few years back, I can only imagine what went on over there.

Jackson said he went to Melo after the season and asked “Are we moving quick enough for you?” and with Melo’s closing window of his prime, the Knicks decided to go all-in on veteran free agents.

Phil said he’s confident that these players will stay healthy this year because they are all relatively young, especially Rose and Jennings.

The 30-year-old talked about how Joakim started recruiting him pretty much before free agency even began. Also said he loved Game Of Thrones, so Courtney obviously knows what’s good. Asked Phil about the triangle offense during their meeting, Jackson says Hornacek will have free reign of the offense, with the triangle as the base.

Looks to be embracing his role off the bench, Phil told him to go out and win 6th man of the year.

It’s going to be a fun year of basketball in the big apple, and I can’t wait for October to get here.
