Ronda Rousey Was Spectacular In Her Debut Match At WrestleMania

It’s hard to live up to the hype, but on the rare occasion where the initial hype is surpassed, that’s where magic happens. That is exactly what happened in Ronda Rousey’s debut on the Grandest Stage of Them All, WrestleMania. Once Ronda made her WWE debut at the Royal Rumble, a target was immediately put on her back. Could her historic success in UFC translate to the WWE? Ronda had to go from real fighter to sports entertainer, which is no easy task. Fighting is not the only thing she has to worry about. Selling moves, engaging with the crowd, mic skills, and ring presence are now a priority. I’ll be honest, when I first heard Ronda’s debut would be a mixed tag team match with her and Kurt Angle taking on Triple H and Stephanie McMahon, I was nervous. Triple H and Kurt would have to carry the match because Stephanie rarely wrestles and this was Ronda’s first match. Could Ronda find a way to shine in the match? I wasn’t sure at first. Then, the match happened…

And it completely stole the show. Wow. That match was very entertaining and well executed. I had little hopes going in and I am so glad I was wrong. That match exceeded expectations completely. Ronda’s training paid off because she looked like a real WWE superstar in the ring. She sold all of her bumps. She had the crowd in the palm of her hand when she kept teasing the arm bar on Stephanie. SHE FOUGHT TRIPLE H! TRIPLE H SOLD HER SHOTS! Credit to Triple H and Stephanie. They put on a clinic on how to put talent over. This is why NXT is on fire because Triple H is calling the shots. It’s a preview of what WWE will look like one day when Hunter is in charge. Back to Rousey. You could not ask for a better debut. It’s clear that she can hold her own in the ring. Now, she has to prove it on the mic. Mic skills will improve with more reps, but Ronda would benefit greatly from a manager. If Ronda has a mouthpiece doing most of her promos, she will come off as a prizefighter and an unstoppable force. With a manager, Ronda Rousey could main event next year’s WrestleMania with Charlotte Flair. That is the best case scenario if this experiment works. Hmm I wonder who could be her mouthpiece…

WrestleMania 33: Recapping The Night

BY GAWD IT’S WRESTLEMANIA!

Everyone loves WrestleMania. Crazy to think that this is the 33rd edition of pro wrestling’s Super Bowl. I don’t care who you are or where you’re from. You know what WrestleMania is and you know when it happens. It dominates the headlines the next day and it is all over social media. So don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about.

So myself, LordTreeSap, and friend of the DRM, Mr. Trigger, watched the whole show from start to finish.  That’s right, all 167 hours of it.  I’d say I’m more than your casual fan because I usually try to know what’s going on storyline wise and I’ll watch the big PPVs. So I’d say I’m not a big mark. I’m just a (little more than) casual fan who still wishes he played wrestling video games.  So I usually write 1 or 2 wrestling blogs a year so I thought here’s the perfect time to hit my quota. Let’s go.

Neville defeated Austin Aries to retain Cruiserweight Championship

No problems here. Entertaining match to kick off the pre pre show. Neville is doing the best work of his career and I like how he retained here. Aries is a good wrestler, but his future is in commentating. Purple ropes!!!

Mojo Rawley won the Andre The Giant Really Long Name Trophy

Good for Mojo. Really hard worker who deserved a WrestleMania moment. That being said, BRAUNNNNNNNNNNNN! The immovable monster that they have been building up for so long doesn’t even make the main card. I think it was a classic case of “we don’t have an opponent for him.” I get it. I even get why he didn’t win the Andre The Giant Really Long Name Trophy. He didn’t need it. But his “feud” with Big Show just felt rushed and forced. Here’s to hoping he gets a new program tonight.

P.S. Gronk doing Gronk things.

Dean Ambrose defeated Baron Corbin to retain the Intercontinental Championship

Dean used to headline PPVs. Now, he’s on the pre-show. That is all. Next.

AJ Styles defeated Shane McMahon

Great, great, great opening match. The Phenomenal One is arguably my favorite wrestler of all-time. The guy can do it all. His in-ring ability can’t be touched right now and I don’t even think it’s close. After putting on classic matches with John Cena, AJ went into a program with Shane. Most people thought the AJ vs. Shane feud would disappoint, but these two put on a great, great opening match. Whether he’s traded to RAW or competes for the title on SD, AJ is the face that runs the place. Can’t wait until he fights Nakamura or Balor one day.

Find me two kids that will do anything their father says more than Shane and Steph. I’ll wait…Are you kidding me? Shane O Mac is the craziest dude on the face of the Earth and his sister is right behind him. Shane jumped off the cell last year and he goes coast to coast and does an impressive Shooting Star Press.

Kevin Owens defeated Chris Jericho to become the new United States Champion

Best storytelling by far of all of the feuds. KO is a beast and totally boosts up any title he holds. Jericho is the ultimate professional. Knows his role now. Puts a ton of guys over and still does great work. I think (guess) he’s going away after his rematch so it’ll be interesting to see who Owens goes into a feud with.

Bayley pinned Charlotte to retain her Raw Women’s Championship

The “This could’ve meant so much more” match. The Charlotte PPV streak was beaten like a dead horse but yet it was ended in February? Sasha gets eliminated via turnbuckle? Is Sasha hurt again? I liked how Nia was protected, but this is really about Bayley. She should’ve won the title here for the first time and the crowd would’ve exploded. For whatever reason they decided to give her the title earlier (looking at you, Vince), it took away some steam from her winning here. However, I am still a hugger. I can’t wait for the Bayley – Sasha match at Summerslam. Bayley has the best theme song. THERE AINT NOT STOPPING US NOW.

DELETE! DELETE! DELETE! By far, the best moment of the night was the return of the Hardy Boyz. 12 year old me leaped with joy. Just an awesome moment. It was loud on our TV, but everyone in the stadium said it was an Austin-like pop. At first, I thought “So much for pushing new talent. I hope they don’t win.” But then, I slapped myself in the face and realized the Hardy’s are the most relevant tag team on Planet Earth. As long as they keep the “Broken” theme to an extent (Cause you know it will change), I’m game. The losers of this? Enzo and Cass. I feel like they’re in no man’s land right now. There’s no reason why they should not have had a title reign by now. They were so over with the crowd when they debuted. After some pointless feuds, (Shining Stars??!?!?!) I feel like they’re going to lose some steam if they don’t get a push soon. I see 3 things happening: trade to SmackDown (PLEASE) to bring new life to their tag team division, turn heel (no thanks), or Cass goes into singles competition with Enzo as his manager (probably gonna happen).

If Brendan Dassey Does Not Get Out Of Prison, I Will Break Him Out Myself

Variety – Wisconsin is appealing the overturned conviction of “Making a Murderer” subject Brendan Dasseyin relation to the murder of Teresa Halbach.

“We believe the magistrate judge’s decision that Brendan Dassey’s confession was coerced by investigators, and that no reasonable court could have concluded otherwise, is wrong on the facts and wrong on the law,” Attorney General Brad Schimel said. “Two state courts carefully examined the evidence and properly concluded that Brendan Dassey’s confession to sexually assaulting and murdering Teresa Halbach with his uncle, Steven Avery, was voluntary, and the investigators did not use constitutionally impermissible tactics.”

Dassey, 26, was a teen when he was convicted in 2007, along with his uncle Steven Avery, of murdering Halbach in 2005. Dassey is sentenced to 41 years in prison on charges of first-degree intentional homicide, second-degree sexual assault, and mutilation of a corpse in the Manitowoc County case. He turns 27 on Oct. 19.

FREE DASSEY! FREE DASSEY!

As a surprise to no one, the state of Wisconsin has decided to appeal the the overturned conviction of Brendan Dassey in the murder of Teresa Halbach. Here’s what I would say to Wisconsin:

Screw you, Wiscy court system. Let Brendan go. I obviously watched Making A Murder. One of the best documentary’s I have ever seen. I believe that Steven Avery is innocent, but I could see your argument if you thought he was guilty. He stalked Halbach and was a weird guy around her and that’s just a fact. I still don’t think there was enough evidence to convict him and it was definitely a witch hunt to just blame it on the outsider of Manitowoc County.

But if you think Brendan Dassey knowingly killed Teresa Halbach, then you’re on banana land! There is ABSOLUTELY NO SHOT that this poor kid could hurt a fly, let alone murder an innocent woman. No fucking shot he did this. At least Steven had good legal counsel from the getko. Brendan did NOT stand a chance in the case thanks to this man, Len Kachinsky.

Kick rocks, Len. The fact that you tried to get this poor, scared, and mentally unstable kid to confess to a murder he didn’t commit is baffling and a fucking sin. What lawyer tells their client to take a deal and plead guilty from the very beginning?………. I’m still waiting. I’ll tell you who, an idiot does that. It’s a goddamn shame that Dassey is in jail.

I understand that Making A Murderer really only took one side of the spectrum. Avery and Dassey were the innocent and the prosecution were the enemy. I totally get that. I did my own research and saw some of the stuff that was not in the documentary. Avery threatened his ex wife and family, he wrote threatening letters, and two of the calls that Halbach received the day of her murder were *67, leading some to believe it was Avery. Taking all of this in, whether you believe Avery did it or not, Avery did not get a fair trial from the start.

But once again, Dassey got taken down with Avery after he was bullied into confessing something he didn’t do. Everyone and their mother could tell that Brendan is mentally unstable and truly is a puppy dog. He will say anything to avoid confrontation, and as fucked up as it is, he will say that he took part in a murder. But I’m glad that a judge in today’s society overturned his conviction because that judge had a brain and a pair of eyes and could see that Brendan was innocent. Praying that this kid gets out and once that domino falls, Steven Avery will get out of prison, too.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, JUST MOVE OUT OF MANITOWOC WHEN YOU GET OUT!!!!
